Cinder Ridge Golf Course

Located in Wilmington, Illinois, Cinder Ridge Golf Course is a public 18-hole championship course that spreads over 350 lush green acres. It winds over and through diving ravines, flat areas, and coal refuse that were created over 70 years by prior mining operations in the land. The course gets its name from the ridge of the cinders still visible.

Course Details

The course is tough off the tees but eases off on the fairways and greens. The tee areas are larger than average, providing the opportunity for varied tee positions that lengthen or shorten the hole and offer different playing angles. The course has 56 traps with relatively flat medium-to-large greens (about 5,000 square feet to 8,000 square feet). Additionally, the large tees on all par threes prevent excessive wear in any one area—providing golfers with consistent, quality conditions they deserve. The golf course was designed so each hole maintains its privacy, and golfers feel as if they are on their own private oasis in the wild.
